About the project

The lower level of this beautiful beach home was transformed into a relaxed Rumpus TV room with bifold doors that opened onto the pool and outdoor living space.  Custom curved bookshelves and a TV entertainment unit were made in the Angora Oak which was used throughout the home.  The sofa was manufactured to suit the space and the rug and scatter cushions added the final touches.

Existing shutters were removed, pool fence replaced and new tiles laid throughout the internal areas flowing out to the exterior.  A bar with TV above was installed in the covered area and the outdoor kitchen which comprised of a wood fired pizza oven, BBQ, sink, storage drawers and pullout bin was installed along the fence line with two folding arm awnings installed to give added protection to the space. Antique White Granite was used for the benchtops with empire oak compact laminate for the cabinetry and the pizza oven was tiled with the mosaic tile used in the main kitchen.

The laundry layout was changed to provide both a laundry and dirty kitchen which included a dishwasher for use with the outdoor entertainment area.

ISSUES FACED

The lower level was very dark and uninviting and did not link well with the pool area.

SOLUTIONS OFFERED

Existing flooring was removed and the new internal tile matched the external textured tile used both in the entertainment area and around the pool.  Natural white paint was used on all internal walls and a bifold door was installed to open up the space.
